How do you manage your CRM?

Stack of Business CardsI admit, one of my biggest challenges is Customer Relationship Management.  I’ve said it before, there are so many variables in marketing and this is one I have not personally mastered.

One reason why it’s a challenge is because I tend to procrastinate.  So, as you’ve read on my previous post, my goal for 2013 is to just do it and part of keeping my desk clean is to make sure what I bring into my home office is tackled and off my desk in short order.

I collect lots of business cards from networking and trade shows.  There are so many different ways to stay connected now that I have to decide where to add the contact data for each business card I collect:

  • Outlook Contacts
  • Email Distribution
  • Google+
  • Facebook
  • Linkedin
  • Twitter

Not everyone should be connected in every aspect.  It does help if I add the contact into my Outlook database because if they call, I’ll at least know who it is.

Now, with Linkedin, I noticed that it’s best to find the person first rather than just sending an invite to the email address on their business card.  What happens is if the email address on their Linkedin profile is different, often times members won’t know how to add you through the email notification.  So, I search out their profile and send an invitation through the Linkedin network that way.

Then, there’s the challenge of how to choose what I communicate to each contact.  Do I promote FORE Networking or do I point them to my Work at Home Golf Mom blog?  Or, are they a good partner for one of my clients?

Tell me how you manage multiple databases and what you do.  I sure could use some advice on this one.
