Okay, I did it. I just wanted to write something about the End of the World. After all, it’s trending on Google+, why not right? I don’t want to be the first to outright dispute the Mayan Calendar, but I at least wanted to talk about what we may perceive as the end of the world.
Has anything ever happened to you and you just felt so awful that someone had to remind you that it’s not the end of the world? Breakups, job loss, upset client, you name it, we’ve all been there. We learn to pick up and move on.
There are always ups and downs in life as there are in your career and income goals. How we make it pass what we may perceive as “the end of the world” is what sets us apart from the not so successful. What do you do? How do you cope? And, how do you better yourself as a result?
I’d love to hear from others, the super successful often take road trips and give motivational speeches to help encourage. But, I’d like to get straight forward ideas on what everyone does that has helped them along the way of earning more income, being more independent and furthering their own lifestyle goals.
1. Don’t over analyze: Here’s one thing that I am definitely guilty of. I over analyze things. Not everyone is the same. So, if ten people are willing to pay you your standard rate for services while twenty people won’t, and one person downright is rude, don’t worry about it so much. Who cares about that one person. There is no point in re-packaging your services or reducing your price for one person.
2. Always Improve: Find ways to streamline and deliver more for less. If there’s a way to automate some of what you do or outsource to a clerical person some of your repetitive tasks, do it. If there are updates to software that you are using, learn them. If your clients’ competitors are doing something very cool in the space that you provide services, figure it out.
3. Reflect on your Successes: When you’re really down, go back and reflect on what has worked and what you have been successful in. Read your past testimonials from other clients and co-workers. Perhaps you have veered off track a little and need to steer back in the right direction. If you haven’t, then it may have just been a bump in the road that you are experiencing. So, remind yourself that you have had successes and just stay on track to reach your goal.
So, no matter how upset you may be, remember, it’s not the end of the world.
