Finding Online Contract Work Opportunities

Finding work is probably the biggest hurdle for any person looking.  And, this is for both regular job seekers and work at home income seekers.

I recommend finding local work.  Yes, you don’t have to work for a local company to work from home.  But, you’ll be able to establish a relationship and sell your services as a value, not a commodity thus getting paid more for what you do.

But, when you’re just getting started, you’re going to need to build your reputation.  You probably also need to learn what’s out there and what’s in demand.

A site where you can find a massive, fresh listing of remote work opportunities is Elance.  Elance brings together companies and individuals who have work to outsource and individuals looking for freelance work.

Companies who list work may request either hourly or flat rate priced bids.  So, if you find a project or work opportunity that you are interested in, you would have to bid on it.

I can’t speak for the decision making criteria by all companies so I couldn’t tell you if bidding the lowest price is the best idea. But, the benefit to the companies paying for services to contractors through Elance is that each contractor is rated based on their past performance.  So, you will also need to and have the opportunity to build your reputation with Elance as well.

Work opportunities on Elance include IT & Programming, Design & Multimedia, Writing & Translation, Sales & Marketing, Admin Support, Engineering & Manufacturing, Finance & Management, Legal.

Yes, thanks Alison. I love elance for that very purpose. I have personally never been hired on Elance, but I have outsourced quite a bit of work through Elance. I have sent out data entry work and some website customization work.
