It is probably common knowledge that a large number of gym memberships are under-utilized. People have difficulty setting aside time to exercise right? And, I’m sure my fellow sports parents can appreciate this. In between work, school, homework, practices and tournaments / games, how are we to have any time left in our days for rest let alone exercise?
The added challenge with golf is that practice is not supervised. With the team sports, parents can simply drop the child off with the coach and team. But, that’s not the case with golf. And, since my girls are young, I wouldn’t want to leave them alone on the golf course.
I am lucky that the local golf course has a 2-tier driving range. When I’m being “good” I’ll walk up and down the stairs while the girls hit their balls. I also count days that I spectate or caddie my exercise days. After all, 9 or 18 holes can reach a couple of miles. Add that together with perhaps 2 days at the gym and I think that’s a pretty satisfactory week of working out.
