My girlfriend posted an image on my Facebook wall the other day after hearing about my very hectic schedule. I don’t know if I really deserve the supermom depiction. I have to admit, my kids have much more super strength than I do. They have nerves of steel!
Both girls tried out of the Drive, Chip & Putt this week. Not sure why, but they felt so much more pressure for this competition than they normally do in a regular golf tournament.
I may have shot myself in the foot this time around. Kayla didn’t do so well. She let her nerves take over and hit her 3rd drive out of bounds. Her putting and chipping score didn’t help so she didn’t make the cut to the regional. That said, I was so nervous for my girls that I think my hands were shaking the entire time I watched them.
Nalani on the other hand, did fairly well. She took 1st place qualifying for regionals by a good margin, however she was her own worst critic. She knew she could have done better. Whereas Kayla hit 2 decent drives and pulled her last. Nalani hit 2 not so great drives that stayed in bounds and finished with a stellar 3rd drive.
Well, on to regionals we go with Nalani. We’ll see if she can show her “nerves of steel” again!
