I ran a direct mail marketing campaign this week and yes, I loaded everything up into the car and brought it home. I really didn’t feel like sitting at the office and stuffing 1,400 envelopes. But, I did print everything at the office, obviously not wanting to use my printer’s ink and the office has a full size copier/printer that’s much faster.
The other thing I did was hire my teenage daughter to stuff the envelopes for me. This gave her some paid work to do, helped me complete the work within my deadline and freed up my time for more important stuff. My kids are always asking me for money anyway, why not make them work a little for it.
I have also outsourced some tasks and projects to freelancers that live in other parts of the country. Now, this website can work both ways for you, you may be able to find work and you may be able to outsource work. If you have some simple data entry type tasks that need to be done, why not outsource it at half of your hourly rate? This is where being your own boss really works. The site I like to use to outsource work is elance.com.
