Kumon Workbooks

Another benefit of working from home is that I am home for the children right after school.  I’ve had a full time job.  My children would stay in after school daycare.  And, even though they had homework time, they still struggled with some of their load.  But, trying to help them out at 6pm when I have to get dinner on the table isn’t easy.

Old habits die hard though.  I picked up some workbooks over the summer thinking the girls can do some review during the break.  They did do some work, but didn’t finish up all of the pages.  Now that they’re well into the 2nd & 4th grades, should I scratch the remainder of these pages and move up to their grade level work?

From what I understand though, the Kumon process is to help children master what they have learned allowing them to progress with confidence.  So, I suppose it doesn’t hurt to get them to finish up these workbooks before we move forward.  But, between their existing homework, projects and practice schedule, it hasn’t been easy.

What have you done to help your children with their schoolwork?
