I saw this picture of “window cleaners at a children’s hospital” on Facebook and just fell in love with it. What an awesome idea. Hey, if it has to be done anyway, why not do it with the added flair! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all find a small way to make a sick child’s day a little brighter?
Well, we can. Did you know that children’s hospitals don’t spend the extra few dollars on character bandages? I’ve been told that children undergoing chemotherapy lighten up just seeing a character bandage used such as Sponge Bob or Spider Man after their chemo session. So, if you ever are inclined, donate a couple of boxes to your local children’s hospital. Or, run a donation drive, get a group to participate with you so you have a nice collection to deliver. It’s always great to get our children involved as well so they understand what other children are really going through.
Wouldn’t it also be nice to add that little extra flair like the window cleaners did to our work at home careers? I’ll share my ideas if you share yours.
1. Ask for a Testimonial: You did your job to completion and billed your client for your services. Even for the smallest, one-time clients, ask for a testimonial. Preferably a recommendation on Linkedin that you can link to.
2. Budget for a gift: Either allocate a portion of your contract or some of your time. You don’t have to make it cost you anything. But, see if you can dedicate something for each contract as a gift back to your client or a gift to a local non-profit on behalf of your client.
3. Special Delivery: Even if your services are delivered remote and is not a product, see if there’s a way you can better package it. Either deliver a quality report in a nice presentation folder of the work you performed or deliver your product with tissue paper that shows off your logo and brand.
How do you make what you do a little more special everyday? Please share.
Those are great ideas, Sinnary! They would be a very welcomed and surprising gift that would really show one’s appreciation.
Thanks Robin! I don’t think that they’re creative enough though. Hoping to hear from others on what they do.
I like these ideas. We should do our own drive.
Good idea Oscar! A Bloggers’ Group Drive. That would be fun! Let’s put it together!
