Took Kayla in for a driver club fitting yesterday. She warmed up a little with an iron. Then grabbed her driver and hit a ball. The club fitter looked at me with a question on his face, “And, why do you want a new driver for her?” Well, she’s had a growth spurt this year, I think she grew a good 3 inches. We’ve had to have her irons bent twice, just ordered new irons and they were bent 4 degrees. Her putter was re-fitted twice. So, I’m just guessing she’s outgrown her driver too right?
So, the club fitter screwed together a couple of different heads & shafts. And, well, she hit them to the same spot and distance with her existing driver. The club fitter’s response to that, “I can’t fix perfect.”
So what’s in the bag? This year, will be the U.S. Kids Golf Tour Series Steel Shaft Irons size 60 and Woods. Her driver, a used Callaway cut down and re-gripped. She misses very few fairways (knock on wood) and bombs it about 220 yards out at 11 years old.
I’m not complaining about not having to buy custom fit adult clubs yet.
